Biography

As long as he can remember, Gehazi Whitehurst has used writing as his main tool of communication. Born and raised in St. Charles, MO, Whitehurst took up theatre and all forms of writing. In high school, he discovered his passion for storytelling through journalism. Beyond this, Whitehurst has further enhanced his communication skills by staying heavily involved in acting and performance.

Whitehurst is a part of the class of spring 2023 at MU studying strategic communication in the Journalism School, with two minors in theatre and psychology. He enjoys being involved with the Mizzou community through performances with the Theatre Department and participating in his academic fraternity, Alpha Psi Omega, which he holds the current position as President. 

Over the summer of 2021, Whitehurst worked as a Summer Welcome Leader for the University where he learned more about the CASE Department. Summer of 2022, Whitehurst was a media relations intern at Veterans United Home Loans where he developed his goal of working in public relations and brand strategy for an entertainment or theatre company after graduation. No matter what he does, he tries to stay true to what he is ultimately passionate about: using communication and research to help others.

In Fall 2021, Whitehurst was hired to the CASE Marketing Team. He is excited for the professional growth this role will offer him, as well as the opportunity to present the incredible stories of underrepresented and minority students on campus.
