To celebrate Black History Month our CASE Marketing interns are highlighting their most influential figures. In this video, intern DuVonté Beard honors Kobe Bryant.

Hello, my name is DuVonte’ Beard. I’m a CASE marketing intern and journalism major. The inspirational figure I chose for Black History Month is Kobe Bryant.

Kobe was a five-time NBA Champion, a two-time NBA Finals MVP, a storyteller and an advocate for women’s sports.

Kobe was very influential in my life and he is one of the biggest reasons why I am who I am today. I love basketball because of him. I continue to work hard and push because I noticed his consistency, his persistence, his determination, his tough drive, his grit. You saw it in his facial expressions as he played and also it was very important for me to see that he advocated for women and that’s also something I continue to push myself to do.
